DWO WhoCast episode 101
31 Dec 2008 @ 07:00 am

A hearty Happy New Year to all the DWO WhoCast listeners.  Hopefully you haven't broken too many of your New Years Resolutions just yet, and will be able to find the time to immerse yourself in the first WhoCast for 2009.

Please make welcome Marty Perrett, the new permanent co-host for the show.  He joins Michael from the Tin Dog podcast and Trevor in reviewing the 2008 Christmas Special, The Next Doctor.  See what the boys thought of the latest adventure from the pen of outgoing EP Russell T Davies.

The WhoCast also welcomes James Rockcliffe, special roving reporter/reviewer for the show.  He also shares his thoughts on The Next Doctor.  Keep an ear out for James over the coming weeks as he chimes in with his special reviews and insights.

The trio also looks through the WhoCast mailbag, and reads some letters about the possible casting of Patterson Joseph as the Doctor, as well as thoughts about David Tennant leaving the role.

And that's not forgetting the regular fix of news and opinions!

As always, more stuff in this episode that you can poke the proverbial left-over Xmas candy cane at.

DWO WhoCast Christmas Special 2008
24 Dec 2008 @ 07:00 am

A Merry Christmas and best of the season to all our wonderful listeners of the DWO WhoCast.

We hope you enjoy this bit of Christmas fun as Seb and Paul return to join Trevor in a bit of cracker pulling and present giving.

The boys have a bit of a natter about the upcoming Christmas special, The Next Doctor.  What's it about?  Who is in it?  And just how awesome will it be?

Trevor had a great talk with author Nick Griffiths, writer of books such as Dalek I Loved You, and his new book, Who Goes There.  Join Trevor as he chats with Nick about his books, his love of Doctor Who and just why he thought travelling around the UK at old Doctor Who locations was a great way to have an excuse for a family road trip.

And find out the details on just who will be joining Trevor as co-host of the WhoCast in 2009.

We want your feedback about the Christmas special - so get watching and get emailing!  MP3 feedback always preferred.  feedback@thewhocast.com.

Hey, who ate all the mince pies?

DWO WhoCast episode 98
28 Nov 2008 @ 07:00 am

With Tony Mk 2 having left the building, and Tony Mk 1 still out due to illness, Michael from the Tin Dog podcast joins Trevor this episode to keep him company and talk through the mountain of Doctor Who news, reviews and interviews.

The boys spend some time and provide their thoughts on the DVD Boxset release of the Trial of a Timelord.  They review the stories, provide their thoughts on the extras, and ponder over a period in Who history where the show was facing one of its most difficult challenges.

Trevor has a chat with the co-author of The Writer's Tale, Benjamin Cook.  The Writer's Tale, co-authored with outgoing Executive Producer Russell T Davies, is a warts and all look at the making of Season 4 Doctor Who.  Trevor talks to Ben about the book, his love of Doctor Who, and just what you will have in store if you pick up a copy of the book.

We always find time for the news, and Michael has gathered a veritable cornucopia of news, rumours and gossip from around the globe.

DWO WhoCast episode 97
21 Nov 2008 @ 07:00 am

Concluding the DWO WhoCast's look at all things McGann, Trevor and Tony Mk2 delve into the world of Big Finish audios, and choose as their special focus one of his early audio tales, Minuet in Hell.

The two antipodeans also look at one of the lesser known 8th Doctor outings, the BBC Interactive's reimagining of the Shada tale.

As is customary when we do one of these Doctor-focussed episodes, we have some exciting interviews for you to enjoy.  Daphne Ashbrook, who played Dr Grace Holloway, and Yee Jee Tso, who played Chang, join Trevor on the DWO WhoCast couch and have a bit of a natter about their experiences working on the Telemovie.

Can there be anymore we can cram into an already exciting episode you say?  Download it and have a listen for yourself!

MP3 feedback is always preferred, send it in to feedback@thewhocast.com if you want to comment on our special two episode look at the McGann Doctor or indeed any aspect of the WhoCast.  It's your show, and we want to be sure we can make it the best we can for you.

DWO WhoCast episode 96
14 Nov 2008 @ 07:00 am

There can be little doubt that Paul McGann didn't get a fair run at playing the 8th Doctor on television.  One 90 minute telemovie and his Doctor is consigned to official Doctor Who history.

The DWO WhoCast attempts to redress this serious imbalance and bring our love of the 8th Doctor to you, the WhoCast listernership.

With Tony still out of action for the forseeable future, Trevor ropes in another Tony, from the Fantragic podcast to talk all things 8th Doctor.

In this, the first of our two episodes devoted to this most under-rated Doctor, Tony Mk 2 and Trev talk about the 1996 Telemovie, and the 8th Doctor range of novels.

Our special Doctor-focus on a particular adventure this episode looks at one of the early pivotal stories from the printed world - Alien Bodies by Lawrence Miles.  Find out why this book is important and why you need to get hold of a copy and read it, now.

Join us next week for episode 97 with more goings-on in the world of the 8th Doctor, including Big Finish audios and BBC online efforts.

As always, your feedback is appreciated, send it in to feedback@thewhocast.com.  MP3 feedback is always preferred, it gets you on the show quicker!
