Burnley Buried! The Chelsea Football FanCast 85
30 Aug 2009 @ 02:39 am

On the Chelsea FanCast this week the boys review the 3-0 burying of Burnley, and award this week’s Celery and Guinness moments, Chant of the week and Man of the Match. Plus more terrace chants in “We’re out to show the world the way to sing”, more questions answered in “Dear Mart”, more comments from the fans in “You’re on CFFC”, and the weekly news round up!

Dino and Kristian join the usual suspects on the show plus a full complement of Blues Brothers with the welcome return of Stu! The boys applaud both a workman-like and stylish victory over Burnley on Saturday and agree that we could have scored 10.

In the weekly news roundup, the Lazarus like return of Steven Cohen’s World Football Daily show is celebrated proving that you can’t ban a Chelsea fan. Well done Steven – good luck with the new show – never surrender! And talking of well loved things that are back, the boys look at the Champions League draw which looks like an extended summer holiday with visits to Portugal, Spain and Cyprus to look forward to not to mention playing some bloke ‘Hulk’ – let’s hope we don’t make him angry!

With a mere 3 days to go before the transfer window closes, we ask are Chelsea likely to spring a few surprises by getting a last minute.com signing or have we got enough. The boys also register their concern that so many young players are being loaned out and won’t get the chance to break in to the first team squad. We also look at the launch of Mark Worrall, David Johnstone and Kelvin Barker’s new book: “Chelsea Here, Chelsea There”, about the legendary first game of the 1984/85 season against Arsenal at the Highbury Library, Martin and Chidge having bought copies hot of the press and signed by Kerry Dixon before the match at the CFCUK stall.

In “We’re out to show the world the way to sing”, Chris and Stu dig up an old classic Shed song that’s made a welcome return to both the Shed End and So Bar in recent years. In “Dear Mart” we answer questions on how to get Chelsea shirts to fit beefy guys, who is the best defensive partner for JT, what is it with the Dirty Leeds rivalry and what characteristics make Chelsea fans unique. And finally in “You’re on CFFC” Chidge highlights this week’s correspondence from the Facebook group

The Chelsea Football FanCast:  You can’t ban a Chelsea Fan!!!

Diamonds are forever? The Chelsea Football FanCast 84
26 Aug 2009 @ 12:35 pm

On the Chelsea FanCast this week the boys review the games against Sunderland and Fulham, and award this week’s Celery and Guinness moments, Chant of the week and Man of the Match. Plus more terrace chants in “We’re out to show the world the way to sing”, more questions answered in “Dear Mart”, more comments from the fans in “You’re on CFFC”, condolences for World Soccer Daily (RIP), astonishment in the mass brawl in Cobham and disbelief in Chel Tel’s report on the Chelsea Open Day!

It’s been a good week for the Chels with Drogba and Anelka on sparkling form, and Ancelotti proving that the 4:4:2 diamond formation is not Carletto’s only way by showing us a Plan B with the 4:3:2:1 at Sunderland. So we sit top of the league with 3 wins so far, whilst Man U and even more amusingly Liverpool have already lost 1 and 2 games respectively!! We give you all the blinding insight and analysis that makes the Chelsea FanCast like Match of the Day on crack!!

We also report on the sad closure of the brilliant World Soccer Daily podcast hosted by our mate Steven Cohen. It seems that a few so called Liverpool fans have bullied the sponsors and scared Steven so much through their threats to him and his family that he has been forced to shut down a show with 16 million listeners. Disgraceful.

The boys also discuss the ‘Mass Brawl’ at Cobham this week where it appears that Chelsea’s reserves gave as good as they got against a particularly violent team from the UAE, intent on 2 footed tackles, biting, eye gouging and karate kicks. And last but by no means least on the news roundup, Chel Tel gives us his somewhat surreal report from the Chelsea Open Day…

In “We’re out to show the world the way to sing”, Chris takes us through an old classic heard at the Fulham game and the Chelsea fans nod to England’s Ashes win the same day. In a bumper edition of “Dear Mart” we answer questions on which player we’d bring back from the past, what do we think of Michael Ballack, who were Chelsea’s hardest players and how did the Chelsea FanCast team originally meet.

And finally in “You’re on CFFC” Chidge highlights this week’s correspondence from the Facebook group many of whom are dismayed at the closure of World Soccer Daily and the despicable events that led to it.

The Chelsea Football FanCast: More packed than the Fulham defence!

The Cross come Shot Renaissance Man! - The Chelsea Football FanCast 83
17 Aug 2009 @ 06:54 am

The Chelsea FanCast boys discuss Drogba's renaissance in the 2-1 win over the Tigers from Hull, and in particular the curios case of the Cross come Shot!

In a tough day for the boys with no trains and a minging hangover for Chidge, most of the banter focuses on the pantomime villain that is Stephen Hunt. The boys also discuss the rather laboured victory over supposed strugglers Hull, it's clear that Carlo ‘The Don' Ancelotti will be under no illusion now that no team in the Premiership can be taken for granted. It will be interesting to see how Chelsea and the 4:4:2 Diamond approach the game against Sunderland on Tuesday.

The boys wrap up the post match banter come analysis by nominating their ‘Man of the Match', ‘Chant of the Match', ‘Celery Moment' and Guinness Moment' - all new themes for the FanCast this season!

In "We're out to show the World the way to sing!" the FanCast Choir boys give a rousing and all action rendition of the infamous "Bouncy" song. What we used to call ‘music and movement' at School!!

In the Chelsea FanCast's answer to a psychotherapy session, Dear Mart answers questions on Andre Pirlo (and why we don't need him!); has any team played more times than Chelsea in the ‘new' Wembley, and what are the boys favourite match day drinks and songs.

Finally in You're on CFFC Chidge has a look to see what you lot have been posting on the Facebook site.

The Chelsea Football FanCast: Guaranteed to cause a Hull breech quicker than Didier Drogba!

Ancelotti " The Diamond Geezer! The Chelsea Football FanCast 82
14 Aug 2009 @ 07:56 am

The boys gear up for the new season by looking back at a welcome victory against the Mancs on penalties in the Community Shield, and look forward to the season kicking off against Hull City on Saturday, and in particular the return of one Stephen Hunt!

Chidge looks back on his and Chelsea’s successful pre-season tour in the US of A and asks where Chelsea should go next in search of world domination.

With Carlo ‘The Don’ Ancelotti’s use of Super Frankie Lampard at the tip of a 4:4:2 diamond, we ask if this makes him a diamond geezer? Has he got a plan b, and does it or should it mean 4:3:3?

After missing out on “Dear Mart” in the FanCast from Los Angeles, Chelsea’s answer to Dr Ruth is back to answer all your Chelsea related musings. The boys answer questions on the 39th game, Chelsea rivalry and which strikers to let go. And finally, Chidge has a look at what you have been posting on the Facebook site in “You’re on CFFC”.

The Chelsea Football FanCast: Sharper than Ancelotti’s diamond formation!

Chelsea Go Hollywood! " The Chelsea Football FanCast 80
24 Jul 2009 @ 10:38 am

Having travelled out to Los Angeles to join the American Blues watching Chelsea take on Inter Milan, Chidge is joined by some very special guests in a ‘Hollywood’ special Chelsea FanCast from the Fox and Hounds pub in LA.

Filling the legendary boots of Martin, Chel Tel et al we’ve got Michael Roban, the Chelsea FanCast’s official LA correspondent, the legendary ex-pat Chelsea fan Steven Cohen, the man behind the most listened to football podcast in the States – World Soccer Daily - and a man who hates Scousers even more than Chidge and the boys! And last, but by no means least, we have Paul Crowder former Adventures drummer, lifelong Chelsea fan and Shed boy since the seventies and the film director who made Once in a Lifetime – the extraordinary story of the New York Cosmos, Dogtown and Z Boys and the Story of the Who.

On the show the boys discuss the Chelsea v Inter Milan match at the amazing Rose Bowl stadium, and the all important Chelsea love in at Lucky Baldwins before the game. We also get the lowdown from Steven, Michael and Paul on what it’s like to be ex-pat Chelsea fans in LA, as well as our thoughts on the on-going John Terry saga.

Steven tells us how World Soccer Daily became the most successful football radio show in the States and Paul gives us a few impromptu Tales From The Shed and the influence his film about the New York Cosmos had on David Beckham coming over to LA Galaxy!!

“We’d like to show the world the way to Sing” is given a swerve after Chidge’s valiant but ultimately doomed effort to get the Rose Bowl equivalent of the Matthew Harding Upper to sing the Patrick Viera song during the game. But fear not, the boys still manage to get a few songs in and finally Chidge gives a big LA shout to those of you who have left posts on the Facebook site in “You’re on CFFC”.

The Chelsea Football FanCast: From Stamford Bridge to Los Angeles, we’ll keep the blue flag flying high!!

In it for the money? - The Chelsea Football FanCast 79
10 Jul 2009 @ 12:46 pm

The Chelsea FanCast returns after an over due 3 week break, and the boys give a hearty welcome to new Chelsea boss Carlo Ancelotti on this weeks show. After Carlo’s comedy stand up performance in his first press conference, the FanCast boys best comedic efforts come in the form of some good old fashioned nob gags! They discuss Ancelotti’s command of English, his standing as a future stand up comedian and what his targets should be next season – the Champions League, Premier League or both!

The scandalous and horrific speculation about John Terry gets the boys thinking are players just in it for the money and why JT is irreplacable. Talking of transfer speculation, Chidge gets twisted blood trying to get his head round all the potential ins and outs. Chelsea seem to have an eye on UEFA’s foreign player ruling by bringing in young English talent and not being taken in by the current over pricing in the market thanks to Real Madrid and Man City. The boys approve this policy and the efforts being taken to keep hold of what is a very strong squd.

Chidge announces that he’ll be in Los Angeles to see Chelsea v Inter Milan, leading the singing no doubt and then doing a podcast on the following evening in a very British sounding pub – the Fox and Hounds! The boys preview the US tour and welcome the boys in blue playing in front of the new and growing US fan base, although some good old fashioned pre-season fixtures in England wouldn’t go amiss!!

In Dear Mart, questions on players similarities to Chewbacca and Han Solo are answered as well as how to become a Chelsea Freedom Fighter. In You’re on CFFC, we hear from Mike Keegan, Scott Melton and the podcast legend that is Kiri!!

The Chelsea Football FanCast: Definitely not in it for the money!

Winner of Chelsea FanCast award revealed! - The Chelsea Football FanCast 78
17 Jun 2009 @ 11:59 am

The Boys are back in town after a two week break and are joined by Chelsea author, Mark Worrall, to review of the season. We discuss the best and worst moments from the season and what went right and what went wrong.

In a season of ‘3 halves!’, Scolari’s rise and fall are recounted, as well as Guus’ Golden spring and the highs of knocking the scousers out of the Champions league and winning the FA Cup and the lows of being mugged by Uefa and Barcelona. We discuss who our player of the season is and what our goal of the season was. Who will receive the prestigious Chelsea FanCast trophy – ‘The Chelsea Cocktail’ of a stick of celery in a pint of Guinness – Lampard, Cole, Terry, Malouda, Alex, Anelka? All will be revealed!

In ‘We’re out to show the world the way to sing’ we’ll be singing our favourite song from the terraces this year, and Mark Worrall slips in a seamless bonus ‘Tale From The Shed’ recalling the away trip to Cluj via a lap dancing club in Budapest!

Dr Martin answers questions on Chelsea traitors, Diarra and Uefa imposed seating restrictions in ‘Dear Mart’ and Chidge reads out more of your posts in ‘You’re on CFFC’. And finally, we announce a special competition as we launch the search for Miss Chelsea Football FanCast.

The Chelsea Football FanCast: Bluer than the strange new home kit!

GOODBYE GUUS, CIAO CARLO! Chelsea Football FanCast 77
4 Jun 2009 @ 07:30 am

On this week’s Chelsea FanCast, the boys are still hung over from their FA Cup Victory celebrations! Stamford Chidge, ChelTel, The Celery Terrorist and Dr Martin are joined by Jason Coveyduck who came over to London all the way from Canada just to savour the Cup Final atmosphere.

We rake over the key moments of the game on the show, applaud Drogba, Super Frankie Lampard, Malouda and Ashley Cole and celebrate Chelsea’s second FA Cup in 3 years! We also raise a glass or two as we say farewell and thanks to Golden Guus. With Carlo Ancelotti’s arrival, we have a discussion on what we think of his appointment, what he needs to do and what we expect from him in the weeks, months and possibly years ahead.

We were all on fine singing form in the Blackbird pub after the Cup Final, and in we’d like to show the world the way to sing, we’ll bring you a rare old song that we belted out in the pub in honour of our cup final victory. And in view of the ban on chucking celery in the Pub, the boys make up for it with a full scale celery attack on Chidge during the show!

Tales From the Shed this week can only cover one subject and that would be what we got up to on Cup Final Day. In Dear Mart we answer questions on the Blue alliance between Chelsea and Rangers, and who the quietest away fans are. Finally in You’re on CFFC we have a roundup of your thoughts from Cup Final Day.

The Chelsea Football FanCast: Bluer than the cloudless sky on Cup Final day!

Up for the Cup! The Chelsea Football FanCast 76
27 May 2009 @ 10:22 am

The show has a distinct FA Cup flavour this week as the boys recount FA Cup Finals from the past and preview the big game this Saturday, with FA Cup special editions of We’re Out To Show The World The Way To Sing and Tales from the Shed.

Before that though, we look back to the last game of the season against Sunderland, and Nicolas Anelka is applauded for securing the Golden Boot in style and wiping the smug look off ‘not the real’ Ronaldo’s face! Kalou gets a nod for his stunning goal and Ashley Cole too for a rare but much deserved goal for the Chelsea players Player of the Year.

We take a trip down memory lane and recall some of our favourite FA Cup finals proving, if need be, that Chelsea have an illustrious history in this, the most famous of all competitions. In We’re Out To Show The World The Way To Sing, we give an airing, not before time, to the most famous FA Cup song of them all – Blue is the Colour! In Tales From The Shed, we recall our last trip to an FA Cup final in 2007, a day that started as always in the Victoria pub in Paddington, and ended up in a good old sing song and full scale celery fight in the Blackbird pub, and launching the legend of the ‘Celery Terrorist’ and ‘Wee Billy’ in the process!

In Dear Mart, Martin answers questions including what special measures we go to in supporting Chelsea, and which players we should never have sold, and finally in You’re on CFFC Chidge gives a big shout to the FanCast fans from around the world.

The Chelsea Football FanCast: Blue is the Colour!!

The King of the Kings Road - The Chelsea Football FanCast part two
21 May 2009 @ 06:36 am

In part two of the Alan Hudson – Kings of the Kings Road special, we discover how his acrimonious bust up with Dave Sexton led to Alan and Peter Osgood leaving the club they loved. He also gives us some insight into his relationship with other managers like Sir Alf Ramsey and Don Revie and how it felt to be described by Franz Beckenbauer as one of the best midfield players in the world after he was instrumental in England beating the then world champions 2-0 in 1975.

In the final part of the show, David Johnstone, creator of CFCUK Fanzine tells us how the legendary and best Chelsea Fanzine started, his bust ups with Ken Bates, getting the proper Chelsea badge back and why we should have a statue erected to Peter Osgood and of course how to get the Fanzine. ‘Urry Up – It’s only a pound!!
